: Im in orlando FL and I got a ticket last night in my S13 240sx with n1 for modified exhaust. It is florida statute 316.293 you can go to [ http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes/ ] to search for it. : Basically it says you can not modify a cars exhaust to produce louder sounds. But from my understanding of this it refers to taking a stock system and modifying (ie. cutting holes). Not replacing it with a replacement aftermarket system. Also my stock system was rusted out and loud as hell thus this system was quieter. I am also not violating any of the noise limits. You should also look at statute 316.272; it is about the the requirements of exhaust systems for FL and some other details. Another interesting thing is that this happened last night at around 100 am. I was not speeding at all, I was riding along with about 10 motorcycles and the cop turned around and followed me for about half a mile, part of which he turned off all of his lights (no headlights, parking lights, spotlights, nothing). As far as I know not even cops can drive around at night with no lights due to it being a safety hazard. I want to bring that up in court, he didn't pull me over until I stopped at a light. Thanks for any help guys I'm really pissed about this. I'm going to call a lawyer tomorrow just to get their quick explanation of this statute and see if they want to send a fax of their opinion. I might even call a sound lab to test my exhaust dba. I've been trying to contact sema about this to get some help from them. Hmm... maybe I should call the aclu, I know the courts hate those people. And the fact that the cop told me they are targeting mainly imports that are modified should be enough for the aclu to stir up a mess. : Charlie : 91 TT : 92 S13 (with illegal exhaust system because it makes noise, guess the brullen on the Z is illegal too becDBD::ODBC::db prepare failed: (DBD: st_prepare/SQLAllocStmt err=-2) at incl_db.pm line 314. : ause we know TT are just sooo loud, yeah right)
Later, Phuong
